‘Nobody to prove photographic evidence’:

Channel 4 recycling old footage as new evidence

One of the world’s leading experts on digital video systems and former head of CISCO’s Global Broadcast and Digital Video Practice division Siri Hewavitharana commenting on the latest video by Channel 4 (CH4) said CH4 was recycling old footage as new evidence with a compliant forensic pathologist called Prof Derrick Pounder to evaluate photographic evidence, but with nobody to prove. Hewavitharana said this move goes against all Forensic Science and he was caught earlier trying to alter the time of death in a criminal case so that his findings would fit the police report. “He was challenged by Prof. Busuttil, a reputed forensic expert in Scotland,” he said.

“We have a similar scenario in the video, where Prof Derrick Pounder is creating something out of nothing without any person to analyse and create a false impression by innuendo and half truths regarding Vellupillai Prabhakaran’s death and also his son’s death.

No one knows how the son was killed, and the coward of a father (remember Praba did not have a cyanide capsule with him) may have ordered his criminal gang to shoot the boy.

There are quite a few examples of where we nurture people from, I suppose, kind of outside the mainstream and bring them to the public’s attention. In news and current affairs, we will tackle issues more boldly than others might. This evening, we have a very important documentary presented by Jon Snow on the “Killing fields in Sri Lanka,” which we know contains material that people will find very, very challenging. We are expected to test boundaries and draw attention to matters of the day that we feel are important, and those are examples of creative risk-taking. Unfortunately, Prof Derrick Pounder did not say that but he just says things that his paymaster wants him to say rather than taking any other possibility that may have happened on that fateful day, he told the Sunday Observer .

Hewavitharana, the Executive Director of IPTV Systems in Sydney, Australia, questioned Prof. Pounder’s forensic expertise in war-related situations.

“The second part is how did Prabha meet with his death? But here suddenly a new theory has been propounded by Prof Derrick Pounder saying that he may have been killed from the back of the head and this kind of wound is rare in a war situation.

Whom is he kidding? Does he have war-related forensic expertise from different parts of the world? Was he there to see what happened on that day?”, he said.

Digital expert, Hewavitharana, who had disputed previous CH4 videos and proved they were fake and especially the second video that was edited using Philips editing software concluded his remarks as the CH4 video never came from the mobile phone since the video is using an Optical Zoom which is not available in any mobile camera to date.

He said the Sri Lankan Government needs to ask the University of Dundee, ‘Do they agree with Prof Derric Pounder’s, one sided biassed comments and why he is not objective on his theories (after all they are his pet theories)’.

“One strange thing about the new video is all critical metadata are stripped off and only a very few have been left. We all know why Ch4 is not open for critical analysis of their work and all they need is a compliant lackey to do their dirty work.

Below is an extract from the Ch4 management regarding their work, where the final sentence, says, “We are expected to test boundaries and to draw attention to the matters of the day that we feel are important, and those are examples of creative risk-taking.”.

The words ‘Creative risk-taking’….. Meaning creative risk taking on behalf of terrorists who fund them”, he said.

Hewavitharana said he was appalled that prestigious UK bodies were now moonlighting for terrorist causes and Ch4.

“A university Professor who was preaching dark science would not help UK’s reputation. The country that brought me up with fairplay and justice is now moving towards anarchy and hope the UK and its academics in this field take note”, he said.

“I am a fan of the UK’s forensic show called “Silent Witness” This show got real heroes’ such as Prof. Sam Ryan and Prof. Leo Dalton, both of whom have formidable reputations as fearsome scientists who go after the truth and most of the time fighting for justice.

I also hope Prof Derrick Pounder learns from this show what British reputation is all about”, Hewavitharana said.
