Jobs for 15,000 graduates

Over 15,000 graduates will be employed in the state sector. Despite the criticism levelled against the provision of jobs for graduates, these appointments will be made within a few months and Cabinet approval has also granted, Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister John Seneviratne said.

The Gazette notification for these appointments has been published in national newspapers and the deadline is March 30, Minister Seneviratne said.

Interviews have been already held for those who applied through Ministries including the Finance Ministry, he said.

The Minister said that the Government has increased the number of State employees from 600,000 to 1,300,000 and improved their facilities. The Government went ahead in providing employment to graduates despite criticism, he said.

The applicants should attend the interview and jobs will be granted to successful candidates. The selected candidates who faced interviews will be considered for appointment, the Minister said.
