Pakistan Chairman Joint Chief of Staff to visit Lanka
General Khalid Shameem Wynne, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chief of Staff
Committee Pakistan is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka from March 18-22,
2012 on the invitation of Sri Lankan Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief
Marshal WDRMJ Goonetileke.General Khalid Shameem Wynne, NI (M) was
commissioned in April 1972 in an infantry battalion. On October 8, 2010
he was promoted to the rank of General and assumed the present office.
He is a graduate of the Armed Forces War College Islamabad and holds a
Masters Degree in War Studies and International Relations.
During his stay in Sri Lanka, General Khalid Shameem Wynne will meet
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence, Chief of Defence Staff
and the Commanders of all the three services.
He is expected to visit the Northern and Eastern Province including
Kilinochchi and Trincomalee during his four-day stay.
On March 21, 2012, General Wynne will be the chief guest at the
launch of the Pakistan NDU Alumni Chapter in Sri Lanka, a platform for
Sri Lankan Officers of all three segments of the Armed Forces who
attended training courses at Pakistan’s National Defence University (NDU)
Islamabad.
His visit comes at a time when relations between Pakistan and Sri
Lanka will be further strengthened.
"Aquinas Day"
Aquinas University College Colombo will hold "Aquinas Day" and
Aquinas walk-2012" on Sunday 25 at its premises.
"Aquinas youth with Academic Excellence Blaze New Trails will be the
theme of the Aquinas Day.A spokesman of the College said that the
"Aquinas Day" is the most important annual event of its Calender.
Colombo Auxiliary Bishops Rt. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Fernando and Rt. Rev.
Dr. Maxwel Silva will be the Guests of Honour, he said.A series of
sports events and competitions were held recently to mark the Aquinas
day.Aquinas Walk will start from the College premises and return
via-Deans Road, Lipton Circus, Ward Place and Borella Cross Road.
Symposium on Down Syndrome
The Sri Lanka Medical Association will hold a Symposium at the Lionel
Memorial Auditorium SLMA at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo 07. on March 21 to
commemorate World Down Syndrome Day. President of the SLMA Dr. B.J.C.
Perera will chair the symposium.

Three of B.G. Nilmini Saroja's children of No. 44, Beddegama, Walgama,
Matara are permanently disabled and unable to walk or attend to their
needs, due to an inherited disorder.
Two of them are totally dependent on milk foods, biscuits and
Samaposha, for their nutrition. Her husband is a mason with a meagre and
irregular income, woefully inadequate for the family and to take care of
the three disabled children. Financial assistance from philanthropists
and the public would be most welcomed to enable her family to make ends
meet.

AGM on March 31
The 20th Annual General Meeting of the Industrial Security Foundation
(Sri Lanka) Inc. will be held at the Capri Club, Dharmapala Mawatha,
Colombo 3 on Saturday, March 31 at 6.00 p.m.
