England rout Board X1 by an innings
England opened their 2012 tour of Sri Lanka on a winning note when
they trounced Sri Lanka Board X1 by an innings and 15 runs in their
three-day game concluded at Premadasa Stadium yesterday.
Trailing by 134 runs on the first innings, the home team's batting
failed to click once more as they were shot out for 119 runs off 56.4
overs in the second essay.
England declared at their overnight total of 303 for 8, in reply to
Sri Lanka Board X1's first innings total of 169 all out. The home team
never looked comfortable in their second innings, losing opener Ashen
Silva for a 'duck' before they opened their account.
