England rout Board X1 by an innings

England opened their 2012 tour of Sri Lanka on a winning note when they trounced Sri Lanka Board X1 by an innings and 15 runs in their three-day game concluded at Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Trailing by 134 runs on the first innings, the home team's batting failed to click once more as they were shot out for 119 runs off 56.4 overs in the second essay.

England declared at their overnight total of 303 for 8, in reply to Sri Lanka Board X1's first innings total of 169 all out. The home team never looked comfortable in their second innings, losing opener Ashen Silva for a 'duck' before they opened their account.

Sri Lanka Board X1: First innings - 169 all out (Ashen Silva 66, Roshen Silva 21, Sachithra Serasinghe 31, James Anderson 4 for 19, Monte Paneser 5 for 37) and Second innings - 119 all out (Dimuth Karunaratne 31, Malinga Bandara 28 n,o, James Anderson 3 for 21, Steven Finn 3 for 24, Graeme Swann 3 for 33).
