Sri Dharmaloka and Gurukula College longing for that first win

CRICKET: The 24th annual cricket encounter between Gurukula College and Dharmaloka College will be played at the Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on March 23 and 24 and the one-day encounter will be played on March 31. The thrill of winning a 'Big Match' will be foremost in the minds of the two captains - Gayantha Anjana (Sri Dharmaloka) and Roshan Anuruddha (Gurukula College) as neither school has won in the two-day encounter all these years. This match is popularly known as the 'Battle of Kelaniya' and this is the only one of its kind in the Gampaha District. Unfortunately there are no sponsors for this end of term encounter and the organisers are still in the search of sponsors.

Gurukula College Roshan Anuruddha who captains the side is a capable allrounder - a middle-order batsman and a capable off-spin bowler. The vice-captain of the side is Nalin Perera. Skipper Roshan Anuruddha has been the leading batsman of his side, making 571 runs which includes four half-centuries and he has done well in bowling too, capturing 58 wickets. Then middle-order batsman Nalin Perera too has been among the runs, making 400 runs and he has an adequate 20 wickets with his bowling. Dharmaloka captain Gayantha Anjana has plenty of experience playing in his 4th year and has been playing adequately as a batsman in getting 990 runs during the season. In bowling he has taken 13 wickets.

A second year coloursman Sulaj Gayashan has been quite a terrific batsman for Dharmaloka with 904 runs inclusive of five centuries and two half centuries.
