Antonians stun Trinity

St. Anthony's College upset all predictions to score a stunning 10 run win over their traditional rivals Trinity College in their 33rd limited over clash for the Sir Richard Aluwihare Trophy played at Katugastota yesterday.

Hero of the Anthonians was their spin twins and leg spinners Sachin Bulathsinghala 4 for 38 and Hinesha Gunasinghe 3 for 33 who ran through the cream of lions batting.

Earlier Antonian skipper Kanishka Ranaraja scored a brilliant 72 with 7 fours facing 91 balls. He reached his fifty in 72 balls and was associated in a fifth wicket stand of 84 with Saranga Rajaguru 25 (1 four 59 balls) which lifted the Antonian total from a hopeless 28 for 4 to 112.

Young Rajitha Jayatunga fielding at cover point held three catches and also scored 53 runs with 8 fours facing 76 balls.

But the Trinitians chasing the total were in a mighty hurry and threw away the wickets which lost them the match though they had nearly 10 overs left in the match which was reduced to 48 overs.
