Sri Lanka, a high growth market - VP Publicis Worldwide

Sri Lanka is a high growth market but it is a small market and it will mature over time, said Executive Vice President Publicis Worldwide and member of the Management Board Publicis Group Bertrand Siguier.

Siguer who was in Sri Lanka for two days said that Sri Lanka will take another 10 years to become a mature market but we are bullish about it. He said that Asia is a growth area and Sri lanka too will grow.

We are very bullish about Asia and want to invest in this region. In addition we are bullish about USA and the BRIC countries but not Europe.

He said that digital activities of advertising will increase in the future. About 15 years ago it accounted for zero percent of the revenue of Publicis but now it accounts for over 33 percent, which shows the importance it has reached.

It has not changed the 30 second commercial but all other aspects such as relationship marketing has changed and it is predicted that it will increase in the future. He said “ I will not oppose them as there is room for everyone.” Siguer said that everybody including the companies will see a follow up of the trends used by advertising agencies in the future too.

The world is obsessed with communications and it will play a dominant role in the future. Development of social networks is a trend.Most of the communication specialists are in advertising agencies. Therefore

communications will grow. Publicis always welcome multiculturalism which makes people understand different cultures. At all our offices we encourage to have a mix of local and global clients and this is very important for an agency. He said that there can be international campaigns for global clients but if it doesn’t work it should be made to suit the target market.
