Better facilities for pre-schoolers in N-E

A project to set up community pre-schools was launched last week at Ambalnagar, Kilinochchi by Child Development and Women's Affairs Ministry.

Child Development and Women's Affairs Minister Tissa Karalliyadde said that facilities for pre-school education will be provided under one roof for 75 children, health clinics for mothers, and parents at this community pre-school in Ambalnagar.

The Ambalnagar community pre-school was built by the Hemas Group at a cost of Rs. 2.5 million for the resettled families in the area. Members of all communities - Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim - prefer to live in harmony since the elimination of LTTE terrorism. Opening the community pre-school has become symbolic of the growing brotherhood among the communities, the Minister said. Over 33 pre-schools have been set up in the North and the East. Every step will be taken to ensure a better future for the children, the Minister said.
