EPDP pledges full support for PSC

Eelam People's Democratic Party (EPDP) leader and Traditional Industries and Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda said he would make a concerted effort to persuade political parties to participate in the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) talks and expedite the process of finding a political solution to the grievances of the Tamils.

Minister Devananda told the Sunday Observer that the EPDP firmly believes that the Parliamentary Select Committee is the only forum to find a political solution to the grievances of the Tamils.

Having eradicated terrorism three years ago people are now regaining what they had been deprived of. The political solution to their grievances is one of the top priorities, he said.

"We are hopeful that the Tamils would get a solution to their grievances through the Parliamentary Select Committee within a stipulated time frame", he said.

He said most of those resettled in the North are now living in temporary shelters and would get permanent houses with the successful implementation of the Indian funded housing project.
