Seven UN peacekeepers killed in Ivory Coast

Seven UN peacekeepers from Niger were killed in
an ambush in western Ivory Coast Friday, in the deadliest attack on
the force since its deployment in 2004, a UN spokesman said. The UN
Security Council swiftly "condemned in the strongest terms" the
deadly ambush.

A rare letter written by the French emperor
Napoleon Bonaparte in English has gone on show in Paris. The letter
will be auctioned this weekend, and is expected to fetch up to
80,000 euros (£65,000; $100,000).The emperor wrote it in March 1816
from exile on the island of Saint Helena.
