Following directive from IGP:

Islandwide crackdown on illegal firearms

Police yesterday began a massive islandwide crackdown on illegal firearms and weapons on a directive by IGP N.K. Illangakoon. IGP Illangakoon has sent a circular to Officers-in-Charge of police stations islandwide to seize illegal firearms forthwith by conducting raids on hideouts of criminals and other suspected individuals, Police Media Spokesman Ajith Rohana told the Sunday Observer.

Pro-Tiger media spin another yarn

Another allegation which was levelled by LTTE and pro LTTE media particularly the Tamil net in a vigorous propaganda campaign against the Security Forces and the Govt. of Sri Lanka blaming that both Security Forces and the government were responsible for the killing of the Anthonypillai Jeyakumar, a Canadian national, in Sri Lanka on 3rd March 2012 was exposed.

Land-grabbing killer torches two sisters

Kahawatta has gained notoriety in recent times following the killing of ten women during the past two years. The motive behind most of the killings appears to be the desire to grab property. However, the only exception was the killing of a mother and her daughter three months ago at Kotakethana, Divulgala.
