Laugfs Gas go for long haulage and heavy duty distribution vehicles

Laugfs Gas PLC will phase-out its existing fleet of long-haul trucks with versatile vehicles to enhance the quality of delivery, said Laugfs Gas PLC, Chairman W.K.H. Wegapitiya while addressing a ceremony to mark the purchase of two Mercedes-Benz Actros Prime Mover trucks by the company.

He said that the company will replace all its commercial vehicles with Actros Prime Movers designed for long haulage and heavy duty distribution. "Safety has been our prime concern and we will ensure it with versatile vehicles", he said.

"Laugfs will buy around 25 Actros trucks in keeping with the growing demand for its products islandwide", Wegapitiya said. Laufgs is synonymous with LPG across the country and it hopes to strengthen its fleet of heavy commercial vehicles to cater to expanding consumer needs.

Replying as to whether these trucks could ply on up-country roads which are narrow, Wegapitiya said that the trucks are designed to meet any road condition and will ply across the country.

DIMO is the authorised distributor of Mercedes-Benz vehicles in Sri Lanka with the relationship with Daimler AG spanning over seven decades.

DIMO Chairman, Ranjith Pandithage said that the Company will ensure the highest after sales service and is proud to be associated with a respected business entity in the country.

From humble beginnings in the mid 1990's, Laugfs has grown to be one of the highly diversified business entities in the country.

Laugfs PLC Managing Director, Thilak De Silva said that the acquisition of two modern trucks will boost the PLG down-stream operations and save cost with zero off-road time.

Richard Hall of Mercedes-Benz said that the trucks were designed to meet road conditions in overseas markets. Over one million vehicles have been sold.
