Laugfs Gas go for long haulage and heavy duty distribution vehicles
Laugfs Gas PLC will phase-out its existing fleet of long-haul trucks
with versatile vehicles to enhance the quality of delivery, said Laugfs
Gas PLC, Chairman W.K.H. Wegapitiya while addressing a ceremony to mark
the purchase of two Mercedes-Benz Actros Prime Mover trucks by the
company.
He said that the company will replace all its commercial vehicles
with Actros Prime Movers designed for long haulage and heavy duty
distribution. "Safety has been our prime concern and we will ensure it
with versatile vehicles", he said.
"Laugfs will buy around 25 Actros trucks in keeping with the growing
demand for its products islandwide", Wegapitiya said. Laufgs is
synonymous with LPG across the country and it hopes to strengthen its
fleet of heavy commercial vehicles to cater to expanding consumer needs.
Replying as to whether these trucks could ply on up-country roads
which are narrow, Wegapitiya said that the trucks are designed to meet
any road condition and will ply across the country.

Laugfs PLC Managing Director, Thilak De Silva said that the
acquisition of two modern trucks will boost the PLG down-stream
operations and save cost with zero off-road time.
Richard Hall of Mercedes-Benz said that the trucks were designed to
meet road conditions in overseas markets. Over one million vehicles have
been sold.
