CNCI Achiever Awards 2012 for industrial excellence
The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) has organised the
CNCI Achiever Awards 2012 for Industrial and Service excellence for the
11th consecutive year.
"The Achiever Awards has been earmarked as the Benchmark of
Industrial excellence ever since it was introduced to the Sri Lankan
Industry almost a decade ago . This was mainly due to its unique
character and the specific criteria implemented during the stringent
evaluation procedure adopted.
In addition, the unique examination of essential qualities that a
well-organised industrial , manufacturing or services or any other
enterprise should possess to exhibit its unique character and the
professionalism in the organisation are also evaluated, when recognising
industries said the secretary general CNCI, Kumara Kandalama.
The CNCI Achiever awards are open to all Sri Lankan enterprises in
the industrial, manufacturing and services sectors.
The unique feature of the CNCI Achiever Awards will be that these
awards are open to the Sri Lankan industrial enterprises who took the
courage to set up industries in the countries belong to the SAARC region
and will be awarded for their operational excellence.
Among the SAARC country-specific winners in the past year have been
India, Pakistan and the Maldives.
The main objective of the Awards is to recognise industrial and
operational excellence and appreciate their performances, and reward
such enterprises to reach further heights in their specific areas.
He said that the Chamber has taken a leading role in fostering
industrial development and growth for the past five decades .
During the Achiever awards the CNCI will pay special attention and
emphasis to the small and Micro sector enterprises from the Northern and
Eastern provinces , who need guidance and assistance to consolidate
their enterprises and provide strength to stand on their feet. The
Jaffna , Batticaloa and Trincomalee areas have been identified as
specific areas for the development of micro-sector enterprises.
The stringent and strict evaluation procedures and the absolute
transparency and confidentiality and impartial judgment of the internal
panel of evaluators and the external panel of judges has made the CNCI
Achiever awards a unique Award, he said .
During 2012 , the Chairman of the panel of Judges for this unique
event will be the eminent Eng Prof Ananda Jayawardena, head of the
Faculty of Engineering and Vice Chancellor of the University of
Moratuwa. The other panel of judges will include several eminent,
personalities.
