UA and police conduct road safety program
Union Assurance (UA) and the Sri Lanka Police launched a public
awareness program on road safety.
With the two main CSR platforms of UA being, 'Health Education and
Awareness Creation' and 'Safety Awareness and Education', year-long
programs have been organised.
During June, UA and the Ministry of Health launched an awareness
program on the prevention of Dengue under the platform of 'Health
Education and Awareness Creation'.
July was dedicated to the awareness of road safety in conjunction
with the Sri Lanka Police. A media briefing was held at the Union
Assurance auditorium recently where CEO, Union Assurance Dirk Pereira,
explained the program objectives. OIC Information and Technology, IP
Dissanayake also spoke.
Educating the public took place in two phases with over 5,000 staff
of UA distributing over 200,000 leaflets on Traffic Rules and Road
Safety.
Another 25,000 leaflets on Child Seatbelt Safety were also
distributed to educate parents as to the best practice when driving with
childrens. Educational programs will be conducted by the Sri Lanka
Police in over 70 schools to educate schoolchildren. This includes
presentations, demonstrations and quiz programs. |
