At KDU symposium:
Intellects to share knowledge on security

The fifth consecutive annual symposium of the General Sir John
Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) will be held on August 22 and 23, on
the theme ‘Ensuring Security Through Reconciliation and Sustainable
Development’.
It would encompass and revolve around the rationale that Sri Lanka
should strengthen security of the nation through economic prosperity,
social stability, national integration and reconciliation.
The symposium will present an excellent forum for national and
international scholars, professionals and researchers to furnish papers
related to the theme and share their knowledge and experience with peer
groups and thereby enrich their knowledge themselves.
The chief guest of the inaugural session will be Gotabaya Rajapaksa,
Secretary, Ministry of Defence and Urban Development. The symposium will
be on defence, medicine, law, engineering and technical sciences,
management, social sciences, humanities and education. The inaugural
session will opened on August 22 at 9.00 am with Major Gen. Milinda
Peiris, Vice Chancellor of the University who will deliver the welcome
speech. Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa will deliver the keynote address.
The second session of the 1st day will be chaired by Prof. Rohan
Gunaratne, Head International Centre for Political Violence and
Terrorism.Maj. Gen. D.C. Katch of India, Lt. Gen. Naseer Jungira,
President, National Defence University of Pakistan, Former Deputy
Assistant Secretary of Defence (USA) Prof. James C Clad, Vice Chancellor
of Massay University New Zealand and People’s Liberation Army China Col.
Qiyu Xpu will announce global perspectives at the symposium. S.B.
Divaratne, Secretary PTF for Resettlement and Security will also address
the 1st session. |
