ID requirements for PC polls

The Department of Elections has requested voters in the Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provinces to produce at least one of the following documents to prove their identity at the forthcoming Provincial Council election: The National Identity Card issued by the Department for Registration of Persons, Passport, Driving licence, The ID issued by the Department of Pensions, The ID issued for senior citizens,

The ID issued by the Department for Registration of Persons to clergy and The temporary ID issued by the Department for Registration of Persons for the 2010 and 2011 elections, The temporary IDs issued to voters for the Provincial Council Election in 2008 and 2009 won’t be accepted.

All applications for temporary IDs will be accepted by the Elections Department on or before August 27, If any voter needs a temporary ID, he/she should have two - one inch ¼ sized bust photographs and meet the area Grama Niladhari or the Estate Superintendent.
