Caltex in CSR initiative

Caltex embarked on a CSR initiative to conduct a series of free medical camps at several locations in the country. The first program was launched in Beruwala.

Company sources said that plans are afoot to run the program at several locations along the coastal line for fisherfolk.

Airtel slashes roaming rates

Bharti Airtel, made a further reduction of rates when roaming in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

This reduction is in addition to Airtel slashing roaming rates to over 100 countries recently.


SLT lead sponsor to CA Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) is the lead sponsor of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka). "SLT's support to the national accounting body is a demonstration of SLT's confidence in CA Sri Lanka", a spokesman for the company said.

SLT CEO, Greg Young, said that SLT as the national telecommunication service provider has recognised its responsibility towards the community and the continuing need to invest substantially in society.


Mobitel sponsors NCE Export Awards

Sri Lanka Telecom, Mobitel is the main sponsor of the 20th Annual National Chamber of Export Awards to be held on September 21. This is the seventh consecutive year that the National Mobile Service Provider will be supporting this endeavour of the NCE

"Mobitel also recognised the Chamber's efforts to widen the reach of this year's awards to regional SMEs," adding "that it was this outlook and willingness to recognise true champions that has helped the NCE grow from strength to strength over the years", a spokesman for the company said.


Amana Bank wins award

Amana Bank has won the Silver award for Overall Annual Report for 2012 under the ‘National Banks’ category at the 26th ARC Awards.

“The ARC Awards, dubbed as the Academy Awards of Annual Reports by financial market practitioners, are globally recognised, providing a platform for the highest standards in the annual report industry. It is the world's largest international competition honouring excellence in annual reports,” a spokesman for the Bank said.


Ramadan relief by Muslim Helfen

The Annual Ramadan relief program 2012 was held in Kinniya in the Trincomalee district where 2,500 packs of dry rations were distributed by S.L.M. Hassan Moulavi (former Leader of the House - Eastern Province ) to widows, the displaced, the needy and differently-abled people. ‘Muslim Helfen’ of Germany sponsored the project.
