Special pooja for God Sri Nagarajah

A special pooja for God Sri Nagarajah will take place at the All
Ceylon Anantha Iyappa Devasthanam at Aluth Mawatha on September 13 at
9.00 a.m. to mark the day of the Zodiac sign “Aileeyam”.
Sumithra's Sakman Maluwa in Tel Aviv
The Sri Lankan film Sakman Maluwa (The Garden) directed by Sumithra
Peries was screened at the First International Migrant Workers Film
Festival organised by the WIC Group from August 24-26 at the
Cinematheque in Tel Aviv, Israel. The three-day film festival titled
‘Magic of the Far East’ focused on films from South and South East Asia.
The gala event hosted on August 24 enabled the Embassy of Sri Lanka
to showcase the island’s culture to the guests which comprised
representatives of the diplomatic community, Israeli government
officials, cinemagoers and film critics.
Free board, lodging for cancer patients
  A fund has been set up to provide free board and lodging for OPD
patients at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital, following the initiative of
the late Prema Welabada and Somanath Welabada. A delegation from
Lankaramaya, Singapore donated Rs. 500,000 and Mrs. Nilanthi and U.N.
Hettige too contributed Rs. 200,000.
Contributions from philanthropists are welcome, the organisers said.
