eServices: Registrations exceed 16,000

More than 16,000 registrations have been made under www.srilanka.lk to obtain eServices, a spokesman for Information Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) said.

The spokesman said that the people's interest in availing themselves of eServices keeps increasing and that in the past month registration increased by about 25 percent.

People can now obtain about 25 eServices provided by about 14 Government institutions. A number of these eServices was launched recently. Others were launched earlier. The majority of the services are available online while some of them are available online and via SMS. Twelve more eServices will be introduced soon, said ICTA.

Anyone could register free under www.srilanka.lk to obtain the required eServices. If anyone encounters any problem in obtaining the required eService(s), he/she could contact 1919, the Government Information Centre (GIC), ICTA said.

The purpose of eServices is to increase efficiency and people-friendliness of state institutions with the optimum use of ICT.
