Nameboards mislead devotees

A large number of Hindu devotees throng the Kataragama Devala on weekends to pay homage to God Kataragama.

Most of them are unable to speak or read Sinhala. The Tamil nameboards with wrong spellings mislead the pilgrims at times. The nameboard installed by the Kataragama Road Development Authority reads as Thissamavirama for Tissamaharama and Sithulpelawa for Sithulpawwa. The devotees call upon the authorities to ensure that Tamil names are written correctly.
