Outstation schools to the fore

Most of the outstation schools provided the shocks over the fancied schools in the metropolis with startling performances on the second day of the 20 the Old Wesleyites organised, Ceylon Biscuits sponsored Munchee Glucofit Schools 6 a side cricket tournament played at the Wesley College grounds, Campberll Park yesterday.

The dominance was quite apparent when Debarawewa MMV and S. de S. Jayasinghe MMV Dehiwala recorded two impressive wins. Debarawewa MMV came off with a sensational 4 wicket win over defending champions Mahanama and S de S. Jayasinghe MMV, Dehiwela, the other giant killer beat fancied Nalanda by 9 runs.Anuradhapura Central, Royal Panadura and Kokuvil Hindu College also fared impressively.

Anuradhapura Central beat Zahira Colombo, while Royal Panadura won twice, first beating Carey and then getting the better of De Mazenod, Kandana Kokuvil Hindu defeated Gateway Internationaland. Our teams, namely DSS, President's Rajagiriya, Royal Panadura and Gurukula MV have qualified to the quarter finals while the other four teams will be known on the outcome of the matches played between Moratu MV vs Lumbini MV, Joseph Vaz vs Richmond, Kokuvil Hindu vs Debarawewa MMV and St Peter's vs S de S. Jayasinghe MMV which is scheduled to be worked off from 8.00 a.m. onwards today.
