Indo-Lanka Foundation funding approval for several projects
The Board of Directors of the India-Sri Lanka Foundation, headed by
the High Commissioners of India and Sri Lanka and two members each
nominated by the governments of India and Sri Lanka, met recently to
consider 60 new project proposals that were submitted by individuals and
institutions of the two countries, seeking financial assistance for
projects and events.
The Board approved full or partial funding support for several new
projects including the following:
* Students from Montfort School, New Delhi to perform in a cultural
show being organised at Richmond College, Galle.
* Teams of musicians to participate in music festivals to be held
next year in both countries.
* Organising a photo-exhibition on Sri Lanka in India by an eminent
Indian photographer
* The compilation of a Hindi-Sinhala-English dictionary.
* Site visits to Sri Lanka by students of the Centre for Historical
Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University who follow the recently launched
course on 'State, Society and Religion in Sri Lanka, 3rd Century BCE' -
13th Century CE.
The India-Sri Lanka Foundation is a trust set up and funded by the
Governments of Sri Lanka and India to enhance close cooperation between
the two countries in various fields including people-to-people contacts.
