Laws to avert bus strikes
The Western Province Transport Ministry plans to implement laws to
prevent private bus operators calling for frequent bus strikes,
according to Western Province Transport Ministry sources.Under this law
the private bus transport service will be made an essential service, the
sources said.
A Bill in relation to this law will be submitted in the House in
January. No room will be left for private bus operators to launch
unwanted bus strikes after the implementation of these new laws.
Accordingly, all problems in relation to the private bus transport
service will be submitted to the Director Passenger Transport Authority.
He would have the authority to take decisions in this regard, the
sources pointed out.The new law will help operate an efficient public
transport service, the sources said.
