Maldives, Napal and Sri Lanka in veteran's TT

Sri Lanka Veteran Table Tennis Association (VTTA) for first time in
the history is going to hold a triangular international tournament on
December 10 and 11 at the Central YMCA, Colombo Fort.
Veteran players from the Maldives and Nepal will be participating in
three men's categories, singles, doubles and for the team championship
with players from Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka's household fashion designer Cool Planet is sponsoring the
first ever International Veteran Table Tennis Championship since the
inception of the veteran association in 2001 with world famous Sri
Lankan scientist Arthur C. Clerke as the patron.
Table Tennis had been famous in Sri Lanka in '60s and '70s. The
players, who excelled during that period will be participating in the
two-day international tourney.
According to tournament rules, in single events each country can
field six players to 12 while maximum four pairs can participate in the
doubles events.
Preceding to the tri-nation tournament, there will be a team
managers' meeting at 10am at the Central YMCA on December 10. The team
championship matches will be played from 4.30 pm after the formal
introduction of teams at 4pm. Singles events are scheduled to be played
on the following day (December 11) starting at 3pm.
Veteran TT players from Sri Lanka have already toured Switzerland,
Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Turkey,
Sweden and they have won over 20 gold medals including many Silver and
Bronze medals.
