Have fun drawing X'mas trees and Santa
Christmas is a time to celebrate and when the festive season comes,
Santa Claus and Christmas trees will feature prominently throughout the
festivities. So, today you can learn to draw them.
In many a home, putting up the Christmas tree has become a custom and
tradition.
I have shown in Figure 1 an outline sketch of a Christmas tree drawn
with pen and ink. Notice the items hung on the tree as decorations. I
have indicated the dimension of the tree and the pot in inches.
These measurements are shown only as a guide to help a beginner to
draw them . Figure 2 on the right is a complete sketch in colour.
Santa Claus is a popular figure when it comes to Christmas. Children
look forward to a visit from Santa Claus every Christmas. Figure 5 shows
a complete picture of Santa seated in a carriage drawn by two reindeer,
done in colour I have shown you the basic outline of the reindeer and
the carriage done in pen and ink separately. Notice the way movement is
depicted; a running reindeer with its front legs and the hind legs
stretched far back, as shown in Figure 3. Picture of the sleigh shown in
Figure 4 is a black and white sketch done with pen and ink. In Figure 5
Observe his red cloak ,white beard and red cap and also the bag of gifts
behind him.
You will observe that the sleigh does not have wheels as it is drawn
on snow. Thin wavy lines indicate snow with a light touch of blue. The
colour of the carriage is yellow indicating gold.
The coloured picture of Santa could be used as good design for a
Christmas card.
First do a pencil sketch until you get the correct proportions and
later outline with ink, using a thin nib. Finally you may colour each
item as shown. |
