Kidney patient appeals
Sapugoda Kirige Nadeeka, 26 of Wilehena, Yahamulla, Wilpita,
Akuressa, is suffering from acute kidney ailment. Doctors have
recommended urgent transplant to save her life. The surgery is estimated
to cost Rs. 600,000.
Nadeeka's mother D.A. Chandrawathie Elabada Kankanamge appeals to the
generous public for financial help.

O+kidney needed
M.A. Jayathilake of 70/1, Danwilana, Veyangoda has been diagnosed
with Polycystic kidney disease and has been advised by Nephrologists to
undergo transplant.
His family appeals to a kind person who could offer a O+ kidney. For

Telijjawila annual get-together
The annual get-together of the Past Pupils Association (Colombo
branch) of Telijjawila Central College, Piliyandala will be held on
December 30 from 9.00 a.m. at the Glain Reception Hall, 325, Main
Street, Attidiya.
A Pinkama to invoke blessings on fifteen seniormost members will also

Dr. T.B. Jayah remembered
The 123rd birth anniversary of Educationist, Statesman, Diplomat and
National Hero, Al Haj Dr. T.B. Jayah will be commemorated on January 1,
2013. The Conference of Sri Lankan Malays (COSLAM) will mark this event
with a public meeting on Sunday January 6, 2013 at 9.30 a.m. at the
Ghafoor Hall of Zahira College, Colombo.
The Chief Guest will be Indonesian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka
Harimawan Suyitno, Director Jamiah Naleemiah, Beruwala Dr. M.A.M. Shukri
will deliver the Dr. T.B. Jayah oration.
The function will be held in conjunction with the Hari Bahasa Melayu
Hijri 1434 (Malay Language Day), a day dedicated to the preservation and
development of the Malay language in Sri Lanka. The prize winners of the
competitions held in connection with Malay Language Day will receive
their prizes on this day and the winners of the oratorical competition
will deliver their prize-winning speeches.
Workshop on Dec 30
A one-day workshop will be held on December 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
at the Kobbekaduwa Cultural Centre, Colombo 7, under the theme
"Proposals to assist the underprivileged Muslims to improve their living
standards and to organise medical camps and self-employment skills",
organised by the IDB Graduate Association, in association with the Sri
Lanka Islamic Centre, the Counterpart of Islamic Development Bank
Scholarship Division in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Oldest King's Scout passed away
One of the oldest King's Scout of Sri Lanka, B.D. Pedrick of
Thantirimulla, Panadura passed away yesterday, at the age of 99.
Late Mr. Pedrick won the King's Scout badge in 1932 as a Senior Scout
of St. John's College, Panadura.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, Dec. 24 at Thantirimulla,
Panadura. |
