The Sri Lanka Army has offered to build a house for the family of the
young Sri Lankan housemaid Rizana Nafeeq who was convicted for murder
and later beheaded in Saudi Arabia in an act that earned the oil rich
country, the wrath of the international community and Sri Lanka.
A complete house to live in, with her two young sisters, brother and
parents was Rizana's ultimate dream, which drove her to leave the safety
of her family and depart to an unknown land where a cruel destiny
awaited her |
The foundation stone for the new house was laid by the 22 Division
Brigade Commander Brig. Aruna Wanniarachchi on Friday.
The chief incumbent of the Seruwila Raja Maha Viharaya, Kalyanawansha
Sect Anunayake, Ven. Seruwawila Saranakiththi Thera and other religious
leaders representing all faiths were present, to invoke blessings. The
224 Brigade Commander Col. Upul Liyanage, 5th Artillery Regiment and the
5th Sri Lanka Light Infantry will join forces in the construction
expected to be completed in double quick time.
A complete house to live in, with her two young sisters, brother and
parents was Rizana's ultimate dream, which drove her to leave the safety
of her family and depart to an unknown land where a cruel destiny
awaited her. Rizana will be happy that her wish has finally come true
for her family.
