Re-defining ocean cuisine
A new beach restaurant 'The Coast' was opened recently in Dehiwela,
overlooking the Indian ocean.
It was conceptualised by its co-proprietors Chethika Karunaratne and
Narendhra Seelanatha who said, "We've conceived this as a one-of-a-kind
ocean restaurant which offers its clientele the right doses of an
unmatchable ambiance and palate-pampering ocean cuisine".
'The Coast' offers a variety of dining options from brunches,
lunches, to indulgence at tea and dinners.
"A unique feature is the fresh seafood caught daily by the local
Dehiwela fisherfolk which we serve to our patrons.
In fact classic dishes redesigned with a contemporary edge, created
using quality ingredients, are the focus of our seasonal menu," said the
duo.
"Dehiwela and neighbouring Wellawatte present a vibrant customer base
with a mixed, social blend of both Sri Lankans and foreign nationals.
These are people who don't want to waste time stuck in traffic but
would rather dine a few minutes away from home, or pick up an affordable
take-away," Seelanatha said.
"Catering to this too, 'The Coast' offers a fine range of Chinese,
Italian and Sri Lankan cuisine at very reasonable prices and is already
enjoying a rapidly growing clientele," he said.
"We've positioned 'The Coast' as a multi-purpose venue and not just
confined it to the boundaries of a traditional beach restaurant. It is
undoubtedly the perfect location for weddings, birthdays and anniversary
parties with the backdrop of stunning sunsets," Karunaratne said.
