Program on 'Poverty free Sri Lanka'

A divisional level awareness program was held at Valikamam North, Tellipalai Divisional Secretariat on 20th January under the theme of "Poverty free Sri Lanka".

Governor and Co-Chairman of District Coordinating Meeting Committee GA Chandrasiri participated as the chief guest. Divisional Secretary of Tellipalai DS Office K. Shrimohanan made the welcome address. Keynote address was made by Government Agent of Jaffna District Sundaram Arumainayagam.

Governor said, Divi Neguma is one of the most innovative and farsighted programs launched by the Economic Development Ministry, under the leadership of the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the direction of Minister Basil Rajapaksa. Its main objective is to uplift the livelihood of both rural and urban communities which is considered as a valuable "Pongal Gift" for Northern Province.

Officials made presentations on the topic of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and industries. Marketing and bank loan facilities were also explained to the recipients.
