Minister of Indigenous Medicine and Kurunegala District
Parliamentarian Salinda Dissanayake has taken steps to construct a
fully-fledged Ayurvedic University in 2013 and it will be a boon to
Ayurvedic graduates who are interested in doing research and experiments
on effective Ayurvedic drugs and traditional methods of treating
patients who suffer from "incurable ailments", said Dr. H.M. Herath
Banda, the President of Kurunegala District Registered Physicians'
Association, at a meeting of Ayurvedic Physicians of the NWP held
recently in Bingiriya.
"Government hopes to expand the conventional Ayurvedic treatment
system of Sri Lanka and many educated youngsters would have
opportunities to study Ayurveda methodically and properly. Such
experienced persons can obtain job opportunities internationally as a
high demand for Ayurvedic treatments in foreign countries is now
existing.
Hence, many trained youth of Sri Lanka would get better and lucrative
jobs in the near future.
