Twenty five persons representing postal trade unions left last week to take part in a five-day workshop being held in New Delhi.

Postal Services Minister Jeevan Kumaratunga presented the air tickets to the employees at a ceremony at the Postal Services Ministry.

Minister Kumaratunga, addressing the event after presenting the air tickets, said it is time to add new services to Sri Lanka's postal services to prevent it from undergoing a natural death. "Compared to universal postal services, Sri Lanka lags behind and depends on a few traditional services. If the traditional trend was followed a portion of Sri Lanka Post being taken over can't be prevented," Kumaratunga said.
