Pinnawala Central PPA meeting on Jan 27
The year-end General Meeting and get-together 2012 of the Past
Pupils' Association of Pinnawala Central College, (National School),
Rambukkana will be held on January 27 from 9.30 a.m. at the school's
main hall.
Public lecture
The Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations and
Strategic Studies (LKIIRSS), and the British High Commission, Colombo
have organised a lecture on 'Sri Lanka: 2013 and beyond' on February 1,
from 5.45 p.m.
The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Foreign and
Commonwealth Office, UK, Alistair Burt will be the main speaker.
St. Sebastian's feast on Jan. 27
The 122nd annual feast of St. Sebastian's church, Enderamulla will be
held on January 27, under the patronage of Rev. Fr. Prasanna Rohan,
Parish Priest, Enderamulla and the Parish Council.
Holy Masses will be at 5.00 a.m., 6.00 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. while the
festive High Mass will be at 8.00 a.m., conducted by Rev. Fr. Ranjith
Andradi, Principal, St. Joseph's College, Enderamulla.
Customs Day celebrations tomorrow
The Sri Lanka Customs will hold an event at its headquarters in
Colombo on Monday 28, January to celebrate World Customs Day which fell
on January 26.
The chief guest will be Senior Minister for International Monetary
Cooperation and Deputy Finance Minister and Planning Dr. Sarath
Amunugama and Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera.
The celebrations have been organised under the guidance of Directer
General of Customs Jagath P. Wijeweera.
In 2012, Sri Lanka Customs had confiscated gold biscuits, gold
jewellery, foreign currency and many kinds of narcotic drugs.
Customs spokesman Lesley Gamini said that the government had earned a
revenue of over one-hundred-and-sixty million rupees (Rs, 160,000,000)
by penalties imposed on the smugglers. |
