Joes retain Gilmour Jayasuriya Trophy

St. Joseph’s retained the Gilmour Jayasuriya Trophy when the school
cricket encounter between S. Thomas’ ended in draw at Darley Road
yesterday.
The Thomians were given a victory target of 224 runs in 44 overs and
at the close they were 117 for 5 wickets. In reply to the Joes first
innings total of 189 the Thomians were all out for 115.

The Joes spearheaded by an unbeaten 80 by Dylan Fernandopulle
declared their innings at 149 for 4.
In the Thomian second innings Yannich Captain and Javed Bongso
excelled with the bat.

Zahira pile up 300
Zahira batsmen fired from all cylinders to pile up 300 runs in their
first innings against Revatha College, Balapitiya on the first day of
their under-19 school cricket match played at Maradana.
Nicky Ahamed (77, 11 fours, four sixes, in 35 deliveries), Arshad
Immudeen (67, ten fours), Salman Fazil 81 ten fours), were the main
scorers.
Revatha in their first innings were shot out for 188 and following on
were 4 for 1 at stumps).
