Moratu Vidyalaya vice captain and right arm leg spinner Harsha
Devinda Fernando became the first under 19 schoolboy cricketer to claim
fifty wickets for the ongoing school cricket season when he took 3 for
33 in the second innings of their inter school cricket match against
Thurstan College, Colombo played at Moratuwa. Harsha Devinda achieved
this feat in eight matches.
Resuming at 95 for 2 on day two in reply to the visitors total of 277
Vidyalians were all out for 257 giving the opponents a first innings
win. Thanks to a fighting knock of 84 runs by skipper Ishan Peiris and a
valuable contribution from Harsha Fernando who made 41. In their second
essay at the close Thurstanites were 119 for 8 with Kavindu Kulasekera
unbeaten on 73 runs.
