Mobitel's Liyasara nominated for Global Mobile Award
Mobitel's Liyasara, a mobile telephony tariff plan designed for women
has been nominated for a Global Mobile Award. "Tailor-made to bridge the
gender gap in mobile phone penetration, this special tariff plan was one
of the first in the industry.
It was launched on International Women's Day last year, as a tribute
to Sri Lankan women," a spokesman for the company said. "This package
included a voice, SMS, data, VAS (Value Added Services) bundle with an
insurance cover," he said.
The Mobile World Congress 2013 will be held from February 25-28 in
Barcelona. Releasing the names of the nominees for the 18th annual
Global Mobile Awards, the GSMA said that they will present the awards on
February 26 at the GSMA Mobile World Congress. One-hundred and
fifty-eight nominees have been shortlisted for this year's Global Mobile
Awards. Over 600 entries and nominations for the 37 awards have been
assessed, making it the largest ever number to be presented at the
Global Mobile Awards this year.
To select the nominees for the 2013 awards, over 160 independent
analysts, journalists, academics and subject matter experts throughout
the world participated in the selection process.
