Acid attack on police officers: Two arrested

Three officers of the Dedigama police were admitted to the Kegalle hospital after being attacked with acetic acid by the wife of a suspect at Dedigama yesterday morning.

The Police Media Unit said the team of police officers had gone to arrest the suspect who was involved in a lot of burglaries in the Dedigama and Pinnadeniya areas.

While the officers were searching the house of the suspect his wife had thrown acid on them, seriously injuring the officers.

The suspect and his wife were arrested and would be produced before the Warakapola Magistrate, OIC Dedigama police K.G.S. Balasoorya said.
