Mitsubishi Mirage makes its debut
By Mohammed Naalir
United Motors Lanka PLC (UML) launched the Mitsubishi Mirage, a
five-door hatchback to the automobile market last week. The Mirage will
primarily cater to the increased demand for superior, fuel efficient and
eco-friendly vehicles.
The Mirage, a key in Mitsubishi Motor Corporation's plans to focus on
global models for Asian markets will be available in nine colours. It
will be available in manual and automatic transmission models with a
Continuous Variable Timing (CVT) gear box that ensures smooth driving.
Chief Executive Officer, UML, Chanaka Yatawara said the debut of the
Mirage in Sri Lanka was timely.
“With top class fuel efficiency among gasoline vehicles at 21
kilometres per litre under test conditions, depending on driving style
and road conditions, low carbon emission and its trendy sporty style, we
expect that this model will have good demand,” he said.
Technology that delivers such high fuel efficiency is Mirage's
aerodynamic styling and the optimisation of body structure which uses
extensively light but high tensile steel. Compact on the outside but
large on the inside the Mirage also has spacious rear leg-room and a
MIVEC engine.
