Off to school in Periyankulam

Our photographer Thilak Perera captured these little girls trekking to school in Periyakulam, Vavuniya. These children trek to this far off school in Periyakulam and they said they are lucky to attend school now as they are functioning after the defeat of terrorism. This school is situated in a far off village in Vavuniya and many children do not even have the facilities to attend school but do so under trying circumstances.

Drill displays were conducted by the junior students of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Nugegoda at the annual athletic meet held recently at Shalika Grounds. Our back cover shows the students in action. The chief guest was Dhanasiri Ameratunga, Mayor for Dehiwela-Mt. Lavinia.
