Sports Medicine branches out on many fields

Sri Lanka Sports Medicine Association (SLSMA) is keen to hold many
academic and professional activities for doctors, physiotherapist,
coaches and sport scientists so that sports conscious people can
benefit.
Kinesie-Taping - a technique where the application of special tapes
for many muscular and soft tissue problems is used for the benefit of
both athletes and non-athletes was explained in detail during the
three-hour session conducted by Marye Borgaman and Nick Flore both from
Netherlands assisted by Dr. Asela J.B. Ratnayake who guided the workshop
in the problems related to the foot, ankle and the movement of the human
body.
There were around 130 participants from all over the country who were
interested in spreading the technical approach for the further progress
of the athletes. Nick Flore also spoke at length about the foot and
ankle related injuries to the athletes. Nick Flore also discussed about
the problems related regarding the lower limbs of the human body so that
the athletes can avail themselves about the health issues.This is the
first seminar of this nature and the Sri Lanka Sports Medicine
Association (SLSMA) will organise more programs in due course to uplift
the standards of the overall health and performance of people engaged in
sports in Sri Lanka.
