SLFP targets 3m new members

Moves are under way to absorb three million new members to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) within three months, according to Minister of Environment and Renewable Energy Susil Premajayantha. He said this program has been launched by the Government throughout the country under the Nill Rella program to increase the power of people.President Mahinda Rajapaksa officially launched this program.

A door-to-door campaign will be carried out to raise the number of SLFP members. One million houses will be targeted under this program. At least three members will be absorbed from each house, the Minister noted.

Even though the United National Party (UNP) tried to increase its members through such campaigns, it couldn’t achieve its goal, the Minister said. He expressed confidence that people will definitely join the SLFP.

Each organiser at provincial level has been given a target, Minister Premajayantha said.
