Lumiere opens knitted fabric facility
Lumiere, a state-of-the-art knitted fabric manufacturing facility
commenced operations a few months ago.
"Garment manufacturers were hesitant to undertake (fashion) orders
despite the potential for better margins. This was due to difficulties
faced in fabric sourcing which mainly stem from the small quantities
needed for these orders.
Fabric manufacturers on one hand are reluctant to undertake small
quantities and on the other hand the lead time taken to produce these
quantities is also comparatively more. This is against the market
requirement, which is to deliver the quantities quickly," a spokesman
for the company said.
"Having identified this gap in market need and industry capacity to
fulfill it, Lumiere invested in a number of small capacity dyeing
machines," he said.
"All of them are Sclavos high temperature jets manufactured in
Greece. Lumiere's investment in these machines is such that it can
produce up to 600 batches of smaller quantities between 50 m to 200 m
per month. To facilitate the production of small quantities, Lumiere lab
is equipped with 'Mathis' Labomat machines from Italy which could
produce upto 5,280 submissions of lab dips per month," the spokesman
said. |
