Singer awards Avurudhu promo winners

Fifty people have won Rs 100,000 each to date at the Singer Avurudhu Dhana Nidhanaya promotion held at all Singer outlets islandwide. Winners were selected at weekly draws held at the Singer head office in the presence of the top management and other government officials.

“This consumer promo has created interest and we are amazed at the enthusiastic participation of customers,” said Marketing Director, Singer Sri Lanka, Nasser Majeed. “The 50 lucky shoppers who have won so far said that their new year has already begun.”


DHL Express honours employees

DHL Express recently held its annual Employee of the Year awards ceremony in Sri Lanka.

The awards received nominations from all employees from South Asian countries and a panel of senior management adjudged the winners from each country.

Fifty-two winners from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal across departments met with senior management at the two-day event in Sri Lanka. The participants were involved in cross-cultural team bonding and entertainment activities at Heritance Kandalama which culminated in an awards night at Waters Edge.


ComBank opens in Pottuvil

Commercial Bank's opend its 230th branch at Pottuvil recently. The branch was formally opened by Commercial Bank Chairman, Dinesh Weerakkody. Managing Director and CEO Ravi Dias and senior management of the Bank were present.

“The new branch is computer-linked to the bank's countrywide branch and service point network. The automated teller machine is also linked to the Commercial Bank's ATM network of 562 terminals, which is one of the largest electronic cash dispensing facilities in Sri Lanka,” a spokesman for the bank said.


Mobitel Cash Bonanza nears 1000th winner

Cash Bonanza, a sweepstake competition launched for Mobitel's pre-paid customer base has produced 982 winners at the end of its 11th week. They have won up to Rs. 12.3 million in cash prizes.

The 10th and 11th week saw 134 winners being awarded Rs 2.1mn. Ms. H.M.C.K. Herath of Bandarawela was the top prize winner at the 10th week draw, and received a grand prize of Rs 350,000. She was followed by Ms. Nalini Hettiarachchi of Thanamalwila who won the second prize of Rs 200,000.


Airtel Lanka obtains ISO standards

Bharti Airtel stated recently that it had successfully completed the audit for ISMS (Information Security Management System) and BCMS (Business Continuity Management System) and received the re-certification of ISO 27001 for ISMS and an upgrade from BS 25999 to ISO 22301 for BCMS for its operations in Sri Lanka.

Previously, Airtel Lanka had secured BS 25999 for BCMS, issued by the British Standard Institution, which has now been upgraded to ISO 22301 as per international standards.

Airtel Lanka achieved this accreditation after a rigorous assessment process.

CEO and MD, Bharti Airtel Lanka, Suren Goonewardene said, “Acquiring these certificates reflects Airtel Lanka's constant attention for quality assurance. We are proud to be the only telecommunications operator in Sri Lanka to receive both certifications for all locations, which includes the Corporate office in the World Trade Centre, the three brand shops in Colombo 3, Kandy and Galle, the Data Centre and MSC, and all the departments at these places.”


DriveGreen upgrades facilities

DriveGreen recently upgraded emission testing centres in Anuradhapura and Daladagama. Both centres now feature a new improved customer area, increased parking facilities, a large garden area creating a greener, nicer environment and are now at more convenient locations.

The technology and testing procedures used by DriveGreen emission testing centres feature ‘Class Zero’ testing equipment offering near 100% (99.999%) accuracy. Test reports include a useful Estimated Fuel Wastage report that illustrates the estimated rupee value loss resulting from poor engine efficiency..

The report estimates wastage as cost per litre, measuring engine efficiency as a percentage based on High and Low RPM (revolutions per minute) levels.They provide several pre and post test reports in addition to standard emission test reports.“Guidance in simple corrective and preventive maintenance measures by trained staff provide customers with realistic solutions that reduce fuel and maintenance costs,” a spokesman for the company said.
