Visakha scores highest number of 9 As

Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo has recorded the highest number of nine As, 172 at the 2012 GCE Ordinary Level examination, emerging the best in the island.

Out of 393 students who faced the examination, 390 or 99.5 percent qualified for Advanced Levels. Compared to the past two years, the number of students with nine A passes has increased. It increased by 34 percent in 2010, 38.7 percent in 2011 and 44 percent in 2012. At the 2010 and 2011 O/L examination, the school produced the student with the best results island wide.

Visakha Vidyalaya has excelled continuously at previous GCE O/L and A/L examinations. According to the Performance Index released by the Research and Development Branch of the Examinations Department, the school recorded the best performance at the 2012 GCE A/L examination in the Science and Maths streams and obtained the third place in the Commerce and Arts streams.
