Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha bans tuition classes

A proposal was made by the members of the Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha that all private tuition classes and private educational institutes should be disallowed, within the P.S. limits, on Sundays and Poya Days, until 2 pm.

Almost all the members, irrespective of their political differences were in agreement and was unanimously approved. Fast deterioration of children's values, financial difficulties and displeasure among family members created more problems, they pointed out.

At present, private tuition classes have been banned in the North-Western Province, the Chairman Laxshman Vidanapathirana was told. The members urged the Chairman to inform the WP Chief Minister of this decision, as soon as possible.
