Couple’s death-20 quizzed

Two police teams and a special CID team have been deployed to arrest the suspects involved in the murder of a couple at Chenkaladi at midnight last Monday.

Forty-six-year-old Sivaguru Ragu, a wealthy businessman and his wife Sundaramoorthy Lifra (41) were hacked to death in their bedroom opposite the government hospital.

DIG Eastern Province Pujitha Jayasundera said that 20 people have already been questioned in this connection and the motive had been to kill the couple.

All valuables at the residence had been untouched. Sniffer dogs brought to the scene of the crime failed to pick up any scent.

The couple's teenaged daughter was in an adjoining room at the time of the incident.
