Mahinda Saranapala receives award

CEO, Kelani Cables PLC, Mahinda Saranapala won an award for introducing Japanese productivity concepts, 5S and Kaisen and services rendered to develop the concepts for the past 23 years in Sri Lanka at the ‘JASTEKA Productivity Awards 2013’ organised by the Japan-Sri Lanka Technical and Cultural Association (JASTEKA) recently at the Galadari.

The chief guest was Director, MAS Holdings, Ajay Amaleen. The award was presented to Saranapala by the Second Officer of the Japanese Embassy, Hideki Ashishuka. In 1989, Saranapala received a scholarship for a Production Management course in Japan while working as the Plant Manager at Nawaloka Group.

He was the only Sri Lankan of a team of 22 who followed this course. During his stay in Japan he studied 5S and Kaisen and introduced the concepts to Sri Lanka by organising seminars and workshops.
