Computers for ANCL news agents generating high revenue

The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) presented computers to news agents who generated the highest advertising revenue under the recently introduced e-adpro system. Computers were handed over to the Moratuwa news agent S.C.A. Wijesekera and the Maharagama news agent H.U.P.P. Jayathilaka by Director Operations, Upul Dissanayake and the Director Editorial, Seelaratne Senerath on Friday.

"We introduced the e-adpro system, a platform specially designed for newspaper advertising, to 15 news agents on a trial basis in July 2012. Before the introduction of this system, news agents faxed the advertisement copies they received from their customers to ANCL. But, under the new system, the news agent type the advertisement, proof-reads it and mails it directly to the ANCL system, eliminating hassle and mistakes," Manager, Classified Advertising, Sanath Preethijith said.

"After the system was introduced, we monitored the volume of advertisements sent by each agent and selected 10 news agents who sent the maximum volume of advertisements. We are making arrangements to introduce this system to 100 more news agents by the end of this year," Preethijith said.

"The advertisers are very pleased with this new method. They can see the final advertisement as it appears in the paper and this new system eliminates any problems and mistakes that can occur during the processing of the advertisement. This makes accepting advertisements for ANCL publications very convenient," Moratuwa ANCL news agent, S.C.A. Wijeskeera said.

Maharagama ANCL news agent H.U.P.P. Jayathilaka said that news agents, and their customers, are pleased with the new technology ANCL has adopted. "I myself attend to my advertisers' needs personally and this new system works perfectly. It is easy to handle and is geared to eliminate mistakes. The advertisers are also very happy with this system."
