
Close tussle for leadership between Abeysekera and Perera in
Platinum Contest

The competition for the Platinum contest for schools playing in the
Division I is bound to be a close one as the deficit between the first
two candidates is just 108 votes. Last week’s leader was Sebastianite
Anusha Perera (34,969), but Royal’s wicket-keeper batsman Milan
Abeysekera has taken over the first place lead with 35,077 votes this
week at the end of the 14th week’s count in the Sunday Observer/Mobitel
Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2013 Contest.
There were no changes in the division 11 schools for the ‘Gold’ with
Yamal Siriwardena of St. John’s, Nugegoda maintaining the lead (29,903),
Cheruka Herath (Sri Sumangala, Panadura) (29,716) and Sakumda de Silva
(Sri Devananda, Ambalangoda) 27,879 in a close contest. In the Silver
category for Division III schools the fight between Sahan Dharmakeerthie
of Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte and Trishan Rodrigo of Loyala College,
Negombo continues with Dharmakeerhtie perched on top with a lead of 609
votes over Rodrigo.
