A MoU was signed between Kelani Cables PLC and Brown and Company PLC recently in Colombo to manufacture international standard jumper cables under the BG brand.

Brand Manager, Exide, Ms Dewthilini Perera.

The MoU was signed by CEO, Kelani Cables, Mahinda Saranapala and Senior Vice President, Agriculture, Battery, Porcelain and New Business of Brown and Company, Panduka Weerasingha.

"Kelani Cables introduced an international standard jumper cable to their product portfolio recently making it one of the best jumper cables in Sri Lanka.

The cable is manufactured using pure copper. Due to the quality of raw materials used the correct amperage is transferred without damaging the battery and does not effect the lifetime of the battery," a spokesman for the company said.

CEO, Kelani Cables, Mahinda Saranapala said, "We signed the MoU with one of the best battery brands in Sri Lanka which is Exide from Browns. The jumper cable we manufacture is of the best quality like the other products manufactured by us."

"Research by our R and D department found out that most of the jumper cables in the market do not meet the minimum standards and this was one of the reasons to manufacture this jumper cable.

When the jumper cable is not compatible enough to transform the required amperage from one battery to another the result is damage to both batteries," he said.

Senior Vice President, Agriculture, Battery, Porcelain and New Business of Brown and Company, Panduka Weerasingha said, "We plan to introduce a jumper cable under the BG brand portfolio which is now considered as a part of a battery.

We selected Kelani Cables to be our partner in manufacturing the jumper cable because of the quality of the products they manufacture and the standards they maintain. We see this MoU as an opportunity to provide the best to our clients who have been with us for generations," he said.

"The MoU signed between the two companies is a significant landmark because the two parties are the giants in their areas of business, Kelani Cables PLC for electrical cables and Exide for automotive batteries," said Brand Development Manager, Channa Jayasinghe.
