Three fruit villages in Kalutara

The Agriculture Ministry has set up three Fruit villages in the Kalutara District, said Kalutara District Media Unit Chief Shanthapriya. The first two fruit villages will be set up in Palindanuwara and Millaniya divisions, and the third fruit village at Walallawita division before the end of the year under the new Fruit-Village Project.

Duriyan, Mangostee, Rambuttan, Mango and Tangerine will be cultivated in the newly set up Fruit Villages.

The technical and agricultural instructions and seedlings or saplings will be provided by the Fruit-crop Cultivation & Development Centre, at Kananwila, Horana, under the guidance of the Kalutara District Agriculture Committee and the Kalutara District Deputy Director in Agriculture.

The farmers and the fruit cultivators are being selected at Divisional Secretariat level.
